Dr. Angus L. M. Thom McLean is a Fellow and an LVC Architect for Rockwell Collins. Dr. McLean has more than 25 years of experience in leadership and management of research and development. His technical depth is in the areas of systems engineering, including simulation, aerospace and training systems. He is currently the Principal Investigator on an Office of Naval Research program with the goal of augmenting live avionics with a synthetic environment. Prior to joining Rockwell Collins, Dr. McLean led research efforts at Georgia Tech in distributed real-time systems, specializing in hard-real-time synchronization of simulations and real-time databases. Prior to embarking on his research career, he was a Flight Instructor and Fighter Pilot in the United States Navy. He is a commercial, multi-engine rated pilot and continues to fly regularly. Dr. McLean graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, and has a Ph.D. in computer science from the College of Computing at Georgia Tech.
