Josh Bertram is a Senior Software Engineer in the Rockwell Collins Advanced Technology Center focused on developing autonomy capabilities for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). He has more than 15 years of industry experience working in areas of software development, real-time embedded systems, certification issues, and machine learning. Mr. Bertram is applying machine learning techniques to emerging civil and military applications, searching for ways to build autonomy that is both safe and certifiable. Also of interest are methods that enable a shared mental model with humans to increase the effectiveness of human autonomy teaming. Mr. Bertram is pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Engineering at Iowa State University focusing on machine learning and artificial intelligence.
