Randy Nelson is a Principal HF Systems Engineer in Rockwell Collins’ Government Systems group. He has over 24 years of experience with HF communications systems including data modems (traditional and wideband HF) along with general HF airborne and ground fixed site system solutions. Nelson is a member of the MIL-STD-188-110C echnical Advisory Committee (TAC) that defined and developed the wideband HF waveforms for the now ratified Appendix D and soon to be ratified STANAG 5069. He is currently participating in the next generation Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) MIL-STD-188-141C TAC defining and developing the next generation 4G ALE protocol designed for wideband HF. Nelson was the HF Industry Association (HFIA) chairman from 2010 to 2013, and has authored/co-authored numerous publications related to HF technologies. He has patents and pending patents relevant to HF communications. Nelson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iowa.
